Vegetarian Pizza Puts Some Pizzazz In Your Veggie Diet
Got a craving for some Italian but trying to follow a vegetarian
diet? That’s no problem. First of all, most if not all the pizza places
now serve veggie lovers pizzas, and you can also order your own
combination pizza that doesn’t contain meat. But, sometimes it’s more
fun to make your own vegetarian pizza.
Making A Vegetarian Pizza With A Premade Crust
If you want to make your own vegetarian pizza but don’t feel like
hassling with the crust, we recommend you use Boboli premade pizza
crusts. They come in different sizes and you can get them in whole
wheat. You can get them at most supermarkets or online and they also
sell pizza sauce. Any meatless pizza sauce will do, and once you have
these two ingredients it’s just a matter of adding your toppings.

Obviously, if we’re talking about a vegetarian pizza, you are looking
at putting meatless ingredients on the pizza. Good examples would be
mushrooms, green peppers, olives, onions, pineapple, sun dried tomato,
broccoli and any other favorite you might have.
It’s a matter of taking the premade pizza crust, topping with the
sauce, adding your favorite shredded cheese; mozzarella, provolone,
parmesan, goat cheese or any combo you like, then topping with the other
meatless ingredients. You could also sprinkle a little more cheese on
top of those things if you like.
I like to drizzle a little olive oil on the pizza for health benefits
and it keeps the crust nice and soft – not like those frozen pizzas
where the crust always seems to come out too hard and too brown or even
black. Do this moderately, though.
There are other premade crusts you can buy, like spelt (not a typo),
which is very good and healthy. Look around on the web if you have
certain allergies to wheat and you can find plenty of options, including
gluten free products.
Use Themes For Vegetarian Pizzas
There’s no reason to have the same ingredients every time you make a
pizza. Another wonderful thing online and offline now is that you can
buy a lot of meat-like products that are made from soy or other
ingredients. These include ground beef substitutes, chicken, bacon,
sausage, etc. Try these on your veggie pizza and you will probably be
very pleased.
You can also use tofu on a pizza. Don’t say ‘yuck’ until you’ve tried
it. It’s okay the way you get it from the package, but for best results
buy the firm tofu, freeze it then thaw it and carefully squeeze the
moisture out of it. Cut it into strips or break it into chunks and fry
it lightly in oil, or bread it and fry it in oil. It tastes very good
this way, so be sure to leave some left over for the pizza.
One good theme would be to use mock/meatless chicken strips with
Alfredo sauce instead of regular pizza sauce. Add some artichokes and
spinach for a delicious white pizza.
Another would be to use mock/meatless bacon with pineapple for a nice
Hawaiian pizza. Or you could try different colors of bell peppers; red,
green, yellow, orange, with onions and mushrooms and some sun-dried
tomatoes.
So, it comes down to you, your creativity and your mood, to make an
interesting pizza. Have it with some garlic cheese bread sticks and a
nice stout beer and you’ll never know you didn’t have any meat in your
meal. |
